Avalon Life Joins Blockchain Experts at PolyCon 2018

Blockchain technology discussed and the successes and concerns the upcoming year may bring.

San Jose, Costa Rica - April 16, 2018 /MarketersMedia/ —

Some of the top leaders of Avalon Life have been invited to attend the 2018 Polycon 18 in the Bahamas to discuss the future potential of Blockchain technology and the successes and concerns the upcoming year may bring. Polycon 18 is the world’s first crypto event dedicated to Tier 1 global financial communities meeting blockchain technology and the economy driven by tokens. The conference brought together the worlds of high finance and blockchain and is attended by institutional investors, retail advisors and high net worth individuals, as well as some of the most exciting and fastest-growing blockchain companies from around the world, including the Costa Rica-based crypto community Avalon Life.

“After gaining mainstream attention in 2017, the volatile crypto market has seen increasing interest from investors and regulators, all looking to stabilize the uncertain outcomes inherent in decentralized money markets,“ writes Kristen Nicole, senior editor at SiliconAngle digital media platform. “One way to seed faith in cryptocurrency is through security tokens, which back digital assets with real assets, such as equity, limited partnership shares and commodities.” The Avalon Life experts asserted that security tokens are particularly useful in the booming world of initial coin offerings, a form of decentralized fundraising that circumvents traditional obstacles such as boardroom power consolidation or bureaucratic red tape. Still, liquidity remains a challenge for security tokens upon launch, due to a lack of support from traditional financial markets and regulatory bodies. This is why use cases in blockchain-based services are necessary to the innovation cycle. Today’s opportunistic innovations that are on display at Polycon 18 have the potential to decentralize utilities, education and even the ballot box.

Based in Costa Rica, Avalon Life offers in-depth cryptocurrency education and innovative blockchain solutions. The company’s product development places a focus on environmental sustainability, while merging new technology with an objective to foster social responsibility. In order to broaden participation with the alternative currency market, Avalon Life created a referral marketing program, and later became the first provider to introduce mining packages with the X11 algorithm. Fueled by the fast evolution of blockchain technology, the company has cultivated strategic partnerships around the globe, and today offers unique blockchain products in numerous sectors within the industry. Their business model provides partners with extensive training, the opportunity for measured engagement in digital currency markets, and access to exclusive products.

Trailing in polls, O'Rourke lays into Cruz in Texas debate

Oct 17, 2018

SAN ANTONIO — Democrat Beto O'Rourke abandoned his usual message of unity and optimism and laid into Ted Cruz, hoping to reverse polls that show him fading against the Republican incumbent during the second debate of a Texas Senate race that's become one of the nation's most closely watched. During the opening moments of the debate Tuesday night , Cruz criticized O'Rourke for past votes supporting a never-enacted oil production tax that might have hit oil-rich Texas hard. O'Rourke responded by evoking a moniker Donald Trump bestowed on the senator when the pair were bitter rivals during the 2016 Republican...

For Ed Asner, comic-books and autism are family matters

Oct 17, 2018

LOS ANGELES — Even at age 88, actor Ed Asner still hangs out at the comic-book store with his kid. Early last week, the Asners could be spotted at Hollywood's legendary Golden Apple Comics. But they weren't shopping. Instead, the two were promoting an internet comic-art auction to raise funds for The Ed Asner Family Center. The auction goes live Wednesday. Founded earlier this year by the actor's son, Matthew, and daughter-in-law, Navah, the center offers programs and education for both special-needs children and their families. The star of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," ''Lou Grant" and the lead voice...

SEATTLE — Personal computers, conservation, pro football, rock n' roll and rocket ships: Paul G. Allen couldn't have asked for a better way to spend, invest and donate the billions he reaped from co-founding Microsoft with childhood friend Bill Gates. Allen used the fortune he made from Microsoft — whose Windows operating system is found on most of the world's desktop computers — to invest in other ambitions, from tackling climate change and advancing brain research to finding innovative solutions to solve some of the world's biggest challenges. "If it has the potential to do good, then we should do...

Potentially deadly infection hits California sea lions

Oct 17, 2018

SAUSALITO, Calif. — A rescue center says California sea lions are coming down with a potentially fatal bacterial infection in near-record numbers. The Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito says more than 220 sea lions rescued this year have been diagnosed with leptospirosis. It's the second-largest outbreak recorded by the rescue center. The center says outbreaks aren't uncommon but the last major one was in 2011. It involved nearly 200 sea lions. The bacterial infection affects the kidneys and can be lethal if untreated. The Marine Mammal Center says the strain affecting the sea lions has also been seen in pigs,...

California agency, gas tax backers worked closely together

Oct 17, 2018

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — As the political battle to overturn California's gas tax increase intensified, the state transportation agency coordinated frequently with the public affairs firm working to block the repeal on behalf of unions, construction companies and local government groups, emails obtained by The Associated Press show. The California State Transportation Agency and Sacramento-based Bicker, Castillo & Fairbanks organized news conferences and other efforts to promote legislation to raise the tax to fund road and bridge repairs, which passed the Legislature in April 2017. After Gov. Jerry Brown signed it, the agency and firm continued planning events and coordinating social...
